GPalms01.JPG 10/1/2004 5:56:04 AM Tanya sent me a nice bouquet of Roses while I was away at the PASS Community Summit in Orlando Florida, September 2004. |
GPalms02.JPG 10/1/2004 5:56:18 AM The view from my room at the Gaylord Palms Resort. Look closely and you'll see a couple of palm trees knocked down from the recent hurricanes. |
GPalms03.JPG 10/1/2004 9:24:04 AM This amazing sand sculpture is visible as you walk in the main entryway and into the grand atrium. |
GPalms04.JPG 10/1/2004 9:24:38 AM Some details about the sand sculpture... |
GPalms05.JPG 10/1/2004 9:25:10 AM Really, calling this an atrium just doesn't do it justice. There are acres of resort property under glass. The glass ceiling starts at about 6 stories up and domes up from there. They recreated the Florida Everglades indoors. The temperature is very comfortable and it's amazing to see. |
GPalms06.JPG 10/1/2004 9:25:26 AM Just one small part of the atrium with waterfall and fish pond. |
GPalms07.JPG 10/1/2004 9:25:48 AM Looking toward a couple wings of the resort, the dark brown building in the foreground is an outdoor style bar, but indoors under the glass ceiling, but surrounded by palm trees, plants, mist and animal sounds. |
GPalms08.JPG 10/1/2004 9:26:18 AM Yes, those are real alligators and turtles. A couple of times per week, a representative comes in from the nearby alligator preserve to feed them and check to make sure they're okay. |
GPalms09.JPG 10/1/2004 9:26:28 AM For some reason the alligators, turtles and fish don't feed on each other even though they aren't really friendly to each other. Here, the alligators are warming themselves under heat lamps. |
